Tours
Western Province is an untapped tourist location. Most, if not all tour guides, will tell You that there is nothing of interest in the surrounding areas of Bungoma apart from a Barclays ATM. They are completely wrong! There is a Barclays ATM in Bungoma but there are also lots of places to visit. Some of the local places he does trips to are the: Mwibale Stones; Sang’alo Rocks; Webuye Falls; and Chesamisi Caves. Pastor Augustine is the local tour guide O COIN uses. If he doesn’t know about the place then it probably isn’t worth seeing. These local tours cost KSh 2000 per car, which can carry 7 people. So the more people that go the cheaper it is per person. You will also need to take lunch with you for yourselves and Pastor Augustine. (Don’t worry jam sandwiches and a soda is usually the best!) It is also possible to arrange to do tours that are further afield including the: Kakamega Forest; Source of the River Nile; and many Kenyan National Parks and Reserves. For Safaris and other holidays there is also Gracepatt Eco Tours. (www. Gracepattecotourskenya.org)
